A cozy new wine-and-cheese destination is preparing to debut on the North Shore.
Le Petit Comptoir Wine & Cheese is slated to open beside Marblehead House of Pizza at 1 Atlantic Ave in Marblehead, according to a report from All Marblehead. Owner Alex Lewis told What Now Boston that he is currently hiring ahead of the opening, and interested applicants are encouraged to reach out through the business’s Facebook page.
The upcoming concept will lean heavily into cheese-focused fare, with a menu centered around small plates, charcuterie boards, grilled cheeses, salads, baked Brie, and other comforting bites designed for sharing alongside wine.
Though wine will naturally take center stage, Lewis says he envisions Le Petit Comptoir as a welcoming space for all ages rather than a traditional adults-only venue. In addition to the alcoholic offerings, guests can expect zero-proof options such as soda and sparkling water in a cozy setting equally suited for after-work drinks, casual hangouts, and low-key date nights.
“I want this to be a place where even high schoolers feel comfortable bringing a date,” Lewis explained, adding that he hopes that the atmosphere exudes intimacy and romance without being overly formal or exclusive.
Lewis is tentatively targeting a July 2026 opening, though the timeline is still dependent on final preparations and hiring efforts.
In the meantime, Le Petit Comptoir has already started building excitement through weekly wine-and-cheese tastings, pairing events, and educational classes leading up to the grand opening. Previous themes have included Cheese 101, American cheese and wine pairings, and French cheese and wine pairing nights.
