A longstanding Boston bakery is expanding to the Boston Logan International Airport.
MarketPlace Development, the Boston-based company that manages the concessions program at the airport, recently announced that iconic North End chain Mike’s Pastry will open a new location in Terminal C later this year. The expansion marks the bakery’s fifth location and its first inside the airport.
“We’re thrilled to bring iconic North End favorite Mike’s Pastry to Boston Logan, giving visitors even more variety of Boston flavors,” said Massport CEO Rich Davey in a statement. “This addition reflects our continued commitment to elevating the passenger experience by bringing local culture to the terminals through live entertainment, classic culinary favorites, and more.”
Founded in Boston’s North End in 1946, Mike’s Pastry is known for its handmade filled-to-order cannoli and classic Italian pastries. In addition to its flagship Hanover Street shop, the bakery also operates locations in Cambridge’s Harvard Square, Somerville’s Assembly Row, and inside Boston’s TD Garden.
According to the announcement, the Logan outpost will include a curated lineup of grab-and-go items designed with travelers in mind. Guests can look forward to many of the bakery’s signature sweets, including cannoli in multiple flavors, lobster tails, cookies, and individual cheesecake slices, alongside a full espresso bar.
“Mike’s Pastry has always been about sharing a piece of Boston with everyone who walks through our doors,” said owner Angelo Papa. “Bringing that experience to Boston Logan is special for us. Whether you’re heading out or just arriving, we’re excited to give travelers an easy way to grab a true taste of the North End.”
The new space is expected to blend the bakery’s old-school, North End roots with a more modern, travel-friendly design, incorporating Mike’s signature gold tones with updated blue-and-white accents, illuminated pastry displays, and sleek countertops.
“We’re honored to have the opportunity to partner with Angelo and the rest of his family to bring this iconic Boston brand to Logan,” said Seth Merin, Vice President of Operations at Air Ventures. “Our focus is delivering that authentic North End experience in a way that’s seamless and convenient for travelers.”
Once open, Mike’s Pastry will operate daily in Terminal C from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
