Sombra Restaurant is a new restaurant concept that is preparing to join San Antonio‘s dining scene, according to recent project filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The upcoming eatery is planned for Suite 101 at Dominion Crossing II, located at 21803 IH 10 W in San Antonio’s Northwest Side. Project documents indicate that the restaurant will occupy approximately 2,500 square feet within the retail center.
Construction is listed as a renovation and alteration project with an estimated investment of $250,000. Work is expected to begin on May 18, 2026, and reach completion by July 17, 2026, according to filings submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The project scope includes the construction of a new restaurant within the existing commercial space. Filings show that the project is privately funded, with the tenant providing the funding for the buildout.
Project documents list Diego Gonzalez and SL Pasa Tiempo LLC as the tenant associated with the upcoming concept. Karta Real Estate LP is listed as the property owner of Dominion Crossing II.
The filing follows previous reports that chef Diego Gonzalez, known for concepts such as Los Azulejos and PM Tacos & Cocktails, is working on Sombra, a new restaurant expected to bring a menu inspired by regional Mexican cuisine with contemporary influences to the area.
While additional details regarding the restaurant’s menu, design, and opening timeline have not yet been announced, the project registration signals continued progress toward bringing the concept to life.
