Johnston & Murphy is on its way to expanding its reach in the Greater Houston region. According to a recently filed permit, the retail outlet is expected to open in the Katy Mills Mall at 5000 Katy Mills Circle, Suite 316.
Construction on the new Katy Johnston and Murphy is planned to start at the beginning of July and is slated to wrap up at the end of August. If all goes well with the estimated $384,000 construction project and permitting, Johnston and Murphy could open before the end of Summer.
Johnston and Murphy is best known for classic, high-quality men’s footwear, including dress shoes, casual loafers, and sneakers. The premium retailer also offers an extensive line of men’s apparel, such as outerwear, shirts, and pants, alongside accessories like leather belts, wallets, and briefcases.
The brand was founded by William J. Dudley in Newark, New Jersey, in 1850. Famous as “Shoemaker to the Presidents,” the brand has crafted custom footwear for every U.S. president starting with Millard Fillmore. Today, as part of Genesco, it operates from Nashville, Tennessee.
What Now Houston reached out to Genesco’s Vice President of Store Planning and Construction, Clayton Graves, to find out more details about the upcoming addition to the Katy Mills Mall. Unfortunately, we did not hear back from Graves by the time of this publication.
The brand operates more than 170 retail Johnston and Murphy stores across the United States, with products also sold in over 3,000 specialty and department stores globally. There are 6 standalone retail and factory outlet locations in Texas, two of which are in Houston.
