Tanta Roba Pizzeria, an Italian restaurant specializing in Roman-style pizza and Tuscan schiacciata sandwiches, is getting ready to open in San Diego’s Pacific Beach neighborhood at 4150 Mission Boulevard, Suite 113.

The new concept will open in the former home of Coxinha Store, according to recently submitted documents to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. Owner Mattia tells What Now San Diego that the team is currently working through final permits, approvals, and other details ahead of a late-summer opening. While a specific opening date has not yet been finalized, the company is targeting a launch toward the end of summer. Customers can expect authentic Roman-style pizza by the slice, Tuscan schiacciata sandwiches, salads, desserts, and other Italian specialties made with traditional ingredients and techniques.

Tanta Roba Pizzeria was founded by an Italian family that chose San Diego as the site of its first local venture, according to the company’s website. The concept focuses on bringing traditional Roman and Tuscan specialties to Pacific Beach through a quick-service format designed for takeout and casual dining. The owners, Mattia and Alessandra, describe the restaurant as an opportunity to share Italian food, culture, and family traditions with the local community. The location will be situated just steps from the beach, serving both residents and visitors.

A major part of the concept is the dough, which undergoes a 72-hour fermentation process to create a light and airy texture. The company says it uses organic ingredients and imported Italian products throughout the menu. Customers can order whole focaccia pizzas or individual slices, making it a convenient option for a quick meal. The restaurant’s focus on traditional preparation methods reflects the owners’ goal of offering an authentic Italian experience.

The menu will feature Roman-style focaccia pizzas including Margherita, Diavola, Caprese, Formaggiosa, and the signature Tanta Roba pizza topped with nduja, burrata, honey, and pistachios. Customers will also find Tuscan schiacciata sandwiches filled with mortadella, porchetta, prosciutto, burrata, and truffle honey. Additional offerings will include gluten-free pizzas, fresh salads, and customizable menu options with a variety of meats, cheeses, vegetables, and specialty toppings.

Desserts will include Sicilian cannoli, tiramisu, caramel cheesecake, and a house-made sweet schiacciata topped with pistachio and mascarpone cream. The beverage selection will feature soft drinks, iced teas, bottled Mexican Coke, and other grab-and-go options. This will be an excellent landing space for Tanta Roba Pizzeria, considering Pacific Beach’s steady foot traffic, active dining scene, and year-round mix of residents and visitors.

“For us, this is not just food, it’s family, culture, and passion. Opening our pizzeria here means sharing with San Diego a true taste of Italy,” Mattia and Alessandra said on the company’s website.
