Boston dancers will soon have a new destination for shoes, apparel, and studio essentials.

Internationally renowned dancewear and footwear brand BLOCH today announced plans to open its first Massachusetts location at 505 Tremont Street in Boston’s South End.

The company teased the upcoming store on Instagram, calling it “Boston’s new go-to destination for all things Bloch,” with offerings ranging from pointe and tap shoes to dancewear, activewear, convention apparel, and Pilates accessories. The brand is also encouraging customers to subscribe to its newsletter for exclusive previews ahead of the opening.

Founded in Sydney in 1932 by shoemaker Jacob Bloch, BLOCH has spent nearly a century outfitting dancers around the world. The company earned its reputation through close collaboration with professional performers, developing footwear designed to meet the demands of dancers at every level, from beginners to principal artists.

While best known for its handcrafted pointe shoes, BLOCH offers a full range of dance footwear, including ballet flats, jazz shoes, tap shoes, ballroom shoes, and dance sneakers. Its apparel collection includes leotards, tights, warm-up booties, activewear, and other studio staples. The brand has also been recognized for expanding inclusive skin-tone options across its dance footwear and apparel lines.

“The world’s leading dance companies rely on Bloch to equip their dancers with the best tools of their trade, including the Royal Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, the Bolshoi Ballet, and the Australian Ballet, to name a few,” reads the company website. “Our shoes are worn by the world’s most elite ballerinas past and present, including Isabella Boylston, Francesca Hayward, Lauren Lovette, Yasmine Naghdi, Julian MacKay, Julie Kent, Sarah Lamb, David Hallberg, José Martinez, and Maria Khoreva.”

Today, BLOCH is led by CEO David Wilkenfeld, Jacob Bloch’s grandson, and operates more than 20 retail locations worldwide, with stores in cities such as New York, Chicago, Paris, Milan, and Amsterdam.

An opening date for BLOCH Boston has not yet been announced. What Now Boston has reached out to the company for additional details, so keep an eye out for updates.
