Illinois Based Decade-Old Construction Business Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

LMC Construction Inc. has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The construction contractor is known for its masonry, concrete, waterproofing, and general contracting services.

Case filings show that the Bensenville, Illinois-based company reported liabilities that significantly exceed its assets. As the company prepares to restructure its finances, daily operations are expected to continue as normal.

LMC Construction Inc. Files for Chapter 11

After more than a decade of operations, the masonry construction and restoration contractor entered bankruptcy on June 23, 2026.

Case filings, as available on PACER, show that the company has met the requirements of a “small business debtor.” In addition, it has elected to move ahead using Subchapter V of Chapter 11. This type of filing is designed to help small businesses reorganize more quickly and at a lower cost.

Case records add that company president Luke Ciula is the authorized representative who signed the petition prior to filing. Attorney Ben Schneider of The Law Offices of Schneider and Stone is the legal counsel in the case.

Company Background

LMC Construction, Inc. operates as a specialty contractor that provides a range of solutions for commercial and multi-family residential properties.

The company’s new construction, renovation, and restoration projects include façade restoration, historic preservation, tuckpointing, and structural repairs. Its website states that the company’s bricklayers, tuckpointers, and laborers serve commercial, civic, educational, religious, and residential clients.

The company website adds that it is EPA Lead-Safe certified and also holds City of Chicago masonry and general contracting licenses.

Previous Filings Made by Construction Companies

A range of construction service providers have turned towards bankruptcy protection in the past months.

A Pompano Beach, Florida-based firm made a Chapter 11 filing on May 7, 2026. Case records showed that Craft Construction Company LLC aimed to readjust its finances with this move. The company has been offering construction management, general contracting, pre-construction consulting, and more services for nearly 15 years.

RMG Erectors & Constructors of Montana, LLC entered Chapter 11 proceedings on April 17, 2026. The petition showed that it had listed more than 100 creditors. The Sewell, New Jersey-based company has been offering construction services for non-residential buildings since 2000.

One of the construction firms based in Elko, Nevada voluntarily filed for bankruptcy on April 3, 2026. Koinonia Construction Inc. faced unsecured claims from several creditors, as per the petition. The company works with licensed local contractors for a range of roofing and siding needs.

California-based Savi Construction, LLC moved towards bankruptcy on November 26, 2025. The general contracting company decided to proceed using a Subchapter V filing. Previously named Solutions Ramirez LLC, the company offers residential and commercial construction, remodeling, and more services.

Case records show that the company submitted a summary of assets and liabilities. According to it, while the liabilities are estimated around $1.05 million, its assets are given as $0.

The company also submitted a list of creditors who have made the largest unsecured claims. Some names given on it are BMO Harris, Forward Financing LLC, Blade Funding, Capital One, and more.

Court filings indicate that after administrative expenses are paid, no funds will be available for the unsecured creditors.

Some of the other document filings were a list of equity security holders and a corporate ownership statement.
