Work is coming along on a new coffee shop for the town south of Chicagoland.
A new coffee and bakery business called Pour Decisions is in the works for 2450 W IL-17 in Kankakee. The business started out as an at-home bakery, and owner Meagan Ferris has been wanting to debut a brick-and-mortar for the community since April. Ferris told What Now Chicago she is hoping to open the shop by mid-July.
“Pour Decisions was created a year ago with decades of passion for coffee and handcrafted espresso drinks,” says the recent post from Pour Decisions on Facebook.
Those getting coffee at the new shop can accompany their drink with one of the many pastry options, including gourmet cookies, cakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls and breads. Milkshakes are going on the drink menu as well. Ferris will also offer a gluten-free and sugar-free menu.
The coffee shop and bakery is under construction on the south side of IL-17, just west of downtown Kankakee. It joins the plaza with Glazik Top Line Feeds animal food store. This is a mostly rural area in the city, with a few homes around.
Ferris said the bar inside is being installed this weekend, and she will be posting updates on the new location on Facebook in the coming weeks.
