A popular suburban café and bakery is making its way to Oak Park this summer.
Blackberry Market is headed to 905 S. Lombard Ave. in the Oak Park Arts District, according to an announcement from the Arts District Business Association. The café will take over the former Buzz Cafe space which closed in October. An opening date has not been announced, but is expected to come sometime this season.
Blackberry Market currently operates locations in Glen Ellyn, La Grange, Naperville, and Oak Brook, serving breakfast, lunch, coffee, baked goods, and grab-and-go meals. It was founded in 2012 by chef Anna Davidson and Bob Davidson. As of now, there are no other announcements of new locations.
Menu favorites at the locations include include scratch-made pastries, breakfast sandwiches, salads, soups, wraps, and specialty coffee drinks. Blackberry Market is perhaps best known for its oversized cinnamon rolls and bakery offerings, which have helped build a loyal following throughout the western suburbs.
The new café will sit near the intersection of South Lombard Avenue and Harrison Street, next to The Actors Garden theater company. The storefront is also behind Publican Quality Bread and MORA sushi. This is not far from the Austin Green Line station.
Blackberry Market joins a growing list of independent food and beverage concepts choosing Oak Park for expansion. Once open, the café is expected to offer both indoor seating and outdoor patio space.
Additional details, including an official opening date, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
