“Jacksonville University students and the surrounding neighborhood soon will have a new retail store where the CVS Pharmacy vacated space in Arlington,” reported the Jacksonville Daily Record earlier this month.
The retail store in question? A new outpost of Dollar Tree, the affordable retail brand offering “Value. Convenience. Discovery.”
Located at 5634 Merrill Road, the former CVS sits on the southeast corner of the University Boulevard North intersection, near the Jacksonville University Obelisk. A little further east on Merrill Road, you find additional retailers like Bargain Racks Jacksonville and AutoZone Auto Parts.
“It’s All About the Thrill of the Hunt!” says the Dollar Tree website. “At Dollar Tree, our customers can expect to find an environment where shopping is fun. We’re known for our ‘thrill-of-the-hunt’ shopping experience where customers can discover new, exciting items every week, from everyday essentials to fun craft, seasonal, and party merchandise. With additional price points, our expanded range gives us the ability to offer shoppers even more choices, providing a larger variety of quality items at great value.”
Dollar Tree has expanded considerably in recent years, with locations 48 U.S. states and 7 Canadian provinces, with a workforce of 153,000+ associates, as of January of this year.
“In the midst of massive growth, Dollar Tree remains committed to our original mission: giving our customers great value at low prices,” the website says. “With over 9,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada, we’re fulfilling that mission more now than ever before.”
