Located at 912 Third St S in Jacksonville, George’s Music is a longtime musical instrument retailer founded by CEO George Hines. It’s one of six George’s Music locations, which can be found in Pennsylvania and Florida.
Now, according to coverage by the Jacksonville Business Journal, George’s Music is closing its doors on Third Street South with plans to open a new location in Jacksonville Beach: “a 6,400-square-foot leased space at 1238-1241 Beach Blvd in Beach Plaza.”
As the shop relocates, it’s also updating the services it offers, the coverage says.
“While major music retailers like Sam Ash have closed their doors, George’s Music founder has a different strategy for surviving the industry’s post-pandemic correction that includes education and AI and digital tech most local competitors don’t offer.”
“George’s Music was founded in Spring City, PA in 1977 by George Hines with a simple belief: Music has the power to change lives,” says the George’s Music website. “What started as a small local music store has grown into a trusted destination for musicians throughout Pennsylvania, Florida, and across the country online. But even as the company has evolved over nearly five decades, the heart of George’s Music has remained the same — helping people experience the joy of making music.”
Opening in Beach Plaza, George’s Music will join retailers, restaurants, and entertainment spots like Dollar Tree, Chuze Fitness, Talkin’ Tacos, Beaches Q Ball Billiards, and more.
