Crews are working to introduce a new gas station option to Clinton County.

J&H Family Store has broken ground for a new gas station and convenience store coming to Bingham Township, from recent photos posted online. This is to be accompanied by a Little Caesars Pizza location. President of J&H Craig Hoppen told What Now Detroit the estimated opening date will be sometime in October.

The company was founded in 1969 by Jerry Hop, eventually opening the first convenience store in Wyoming, Michigan. Since then, it has grown to over 200 retail locations across the state. The company is not done bringing new stores to Michigan as more are planned for the future.

“We’re always looking to expand,” Hoppen said.

At the typical J&H location, those stopping in can buy typical gas station store items like snacks, coffees and medicine. Multiple stores also share space with Little Caesars. The new space will be around 7,000 square feet.

Hoppen said he and the team have been planning the location for about three-and-a-half years. An exact address is not confirmed, but this on M-21 near the on-ramp for U.S.127 and east of St. Johns. As of now, there is no other gas station in this immediate area.

Right now, water piping and sewage are the main determining factors for the opening timeline. As it gets closer to the opening, the team will be releasing more information to the community.
