University Town Center, in the Sarasota-Brandon area, is growing considerably this year. According to recent coverage by the Tampa Bay Times, thirteen new restaurants and retailers will be opening there in 2026.

What Now has already covered several of these concepts, including Just Salad, Playa Bowls, and Dick’s House of Sport. In addition to these, UTC will be getting a West Elm store, the Tampa Bay Times says:

“Furniture retailer West Elm is coming to The West District at UTC next to L.L. Bean. An 18,000-square-foot store is under construction.”

With locations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia, the United Kindom, Saudi Arabia, and India, West Elm is a truly global retailer with contemporary furniture and houseware. The company is a subsidiary of Williams-Sonoma, Inc.

West Elm’s merchandise includes indoor, outdoor, and office furniture; rugs; lighting; kitchenware; storage; and lots more. It’s currently running a 4th of July sale with prices slashed by as much as 70%.

A representative was not immediately available for comment on the opening on Wednesday, but stay tuned for an update once more information is available.
