A dirty soda chain that has been around for over 15 years is expanding into the Windy City.
Franchisees for Swig have officially signed a 13 unit deal for locations in the southwest Chicago suburbs. These include Joliet, Crest Hill, Bolingbrook and Naperville. The first dirty soda shop will open sometime in August, according to franchisee Derek Hincks.
Hincks is teaming up with his wife Michelle, who has years of experience in the food service industry. Derek is a franchise owner for Crumbl Cookies, and he has been seeking out the Swig brand for a while since moving to Chicago from Utah. The units will be the first Swig locations in Chicagoland.
“We love this concept,” Hincks said.
While Swig is known for their many sodas, refreshers, sweet treats and hot chocolate are also served at locations. One of their signature sodas is the Birthday Girl, with Dr. Pepper, blackberry, raspberry, mango puree and coconut cream. Pretzel bites are also served, and of their main sweet treats is the coconut lime sugar cookie.
The two are in the early negotiation stages for some of the locations, so these are not being announced as of yet. From QSR Magazine, the shops will be around 800-850 square feet and will allow for drive-thrus.
