La Casita Bakeshop is relocating within downtown Rowlett. According to public filings, the bakery plans to open at 3522 Main St., Suite 300. Co-owner Alex Henderson told What Now Dallas the team is hoping to open by the end of this year.

The move takes La Casita just down the street from its original location, which Henderson said was one of the bakery’s first shops and can only fit four or five people at a time.

“We really want to be able to serve the community better and be able to have people come and meet and greet and have a good time with us. By being a full restaurant and having more seats available, we’ll be able to better serve the community,” Henderson told What Now Dallas

The new space will expand La Casita’s offerings beyond its original coffee shop format, adding brunch and lunch service, with dinner potentially on the horizon down the road.

Henderson credited downtown Rowlett’s close-knit atmosphere with the bakery’s warm reception in the community. “Downtown Rowlett has a really small, homey vibe. As a local Dallas bakery, my wife and I both grew up here, we feel we fit into that groove, and we’re excited to be able to be more a part of it as we expand,” he told What Now Dallas

The name La Casita Bakeshop was chosen by Henderson’s wife, a first-generation American whose parents came to the U.S. from Mexico. She wanted the name to reflect a mix of Spanish and English, landing on La Casita Bakeshop as a nod to her own background.

Henderson said the couple isn’t planning further expansion beyond this relocation, at least for now. “We’re hoping to slow our growth a little bit,” he said. “This is the only one we have planned right now.”

He added that the bakery has enjoyed watching Rowlett grow over the past few years and is looking forward to being a bigger part of that growth. “The community, I feel like, is really coming out,” Henderson said. “We’re just ready to be a bigger part of Rowlett.”
