A landmark BBQ spot will be permanently closing its doors soon. Morganton’s Butch’s BBQ and Breakfast will serve its final dinner on Wednesday, July 22. The closure marks the end of 25 years of service in the community.
Butch’s BBQ Is Closing Its Doors
Known for its comfort food and home-baked buns, Butch’s BBQ and Breakfast is preparing to close after 25 years in Morganton. Butch’s BBQ and Breakfast offers a casual and affordable menu with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant includes drive-through, dine-in, takeout, delivery, and catering services.
Its menu includes pulled pork, barbecue sandwiches, and other Southern dishes.
Fulenwider Enterprise, which operates the restaurant, announced the closure in a July 18 social media post. President Brian Goldstein shared the news.
The restaurant at 1234 Burkemont Avenue will close at 9 p.m. on July 22. “This decision was not made lightly, in part due to the many relationships we have built over the years,” stated Brian.
The president, on behalf of the restaurant, thanked the community and customers for their support. He also stated, “We are committed to taking care of our team throughout this transition by providing other job opportunities.”

The restaurant was founded in 2001 and has served the community with dedication and love since then. Talking about the journey of the restaurant, Brian added, “It has been our pleasure to serve you for the past 25 years.”
The announcement prompted numerous reactions from customers on social media. Several community members shared messages of appreciation on social media after the announcement.
One of the customers commented, “I am so sad to hear this! They had the best chicken tenders, rolls, slaw, honey mustard, potato salad, and sweet potato casserole. Went there several times a month for Sunday lunch.”
The closure of Butch’s BBQ marks the end of a longtime legacy in the Morganton dining community.
