A landmark seafood spot in Annapolis is preparing to close its doors. O’Leary’s Seafood Restaurant will shut down on August 2 after serving the community for over four decades. The restaurant team cited lease issues as the reason for the closure.
O’Leary’s Seafood Restaurant Says Goodbye
Founded in 1983, O’Leary’s Seafood is an upscale restaurant located at 310 Third Street in Annapolis. The restaurant is situated in the heart of the historic Eastport neighborhood. It gained its following by serving high-end, fresh seafood paired with an extensive wine selection.
In a Facebook post, owner Wil Peterson announced the restaurant’s upcoming closure. Peterson invited guests to visit the restaurant one final time before it closes on August 2.
The menu include O’Leary’s crab cakes, whole Maine lobster, and the raw bar selection. It offers an intimate dining experience. The space features a converted old house painted in vibrant colors and abstract art, making it an aesthetically pleasing dining destination.
In the post, the owner thanked the community and customers for their support. The owner especially added a note of appreciation for the staff and said, “I will also be scheduling a staff appreciation night, where all proceeds will go directly to our staff. They have given so much of themselves to O’Learys Seafood, and I want to honor their hard work.”
What Led to the Closure
Wil Peterson explained that the decision was not made lightly, nor was it something they hoped for. However, the loss of the lease for the property has led to the closure.
Talking about the journey of the restaurant, the post acknowledged, “For more than four decades, this restaurant has been more than a place to eat; it has been a gathering place, a home for memories, and a part of my life that I will always carry with me.”
The closure will mark the end of one of Annapolis’ longtime seafood restaurants.
