Tacos La Bala is on the move! The popular family-owned Mexican restaurant chain is expanding. According to a recently filed Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation permit, the new Tacos La Bala is set to open in New Caney in Montgomery County, within the Caney Crossing shopping center at 20460 FM 1485 suite A.
The permit further details that construction is expected to start at the beginning of September this year and is slated to wrap up at the end of January next year. If all goes well with permitting, the estimated $250,000 construction project, the new 2,482 square-foot Tacos La Bala should open by early 2027.
At the helm of this opening is Yzmael Gonzalez, who was listed on the permit. What Now Houston reached out to Gonzalez to find out more details about the exciting new addition to the brand and expansion plans. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“At La Bala restaurant, the journey to success has been marked by a commitment to quality and authenticity. The Mexican culinary heritage is showcased through every dish prepared,” the Taco La Bala website reads.
“The establishment has been recognized as a cornerstone in the community, where locals and visitors alike enjoy the flavorful offerings. The story behind Tacos La Bala is characterized by dedication and passion.”
Tacos La Bala first opened in 1973, operating as a taco truck in Tampico, Mexico. Upon moving to Houston, the family-owned taqueria business operated as a popular local taco trailer before expanding. Over the years, it expanded into a beloved regional chain with multiple brick-and-mortar storefronts across the Houston metropolitan area, including spots in Deer Park, Katy, and Rosenberg.
What Now also reached out to co-owner Alejandra Gonzalez to find out more about expansion plans. Gonzalez confirmed the opening, but said she was not in charge of the new eatery coming to New Caney.
There are now eight Tacos La Bala eateries serving the Greater Houston region, with the Bellaire Blvd. location serving as the flagship restaurant.
“This location has become celebrated for its rich flavors and traditional dishes,” the Tacos La Bala website reads.
“Over the years, the restaurant has garnered a reputation for serving hearty tacos, burritos, and tortas, delighting many patrons.”
Check out Tacos La Bala and all of its offerings when the new location opens in New Caney, within the Caney Crossing shopping center, at 20460 FM 1485 suite A, early next year.
