Whole Foods Market is opening its first Elk Grove location at 8100 Elk Grove Blvd, with new job postings confirming a target opening of late summer 2026. The store is currently hiring for 34 positions, ranging from grocery and produce team members to bakery, seafood and prepared foods roles, according to listings on the company’s careers site.

Whole Foods built its name on natural and organic groceries, with departments covering produce, meat, seafood, bakery and prepared foods, along with a Whole Body section stocking vitamins, supplements and body care products. The Elk Grove store’s job postings also point to a beer, wine, cheese and chocolate specialty section, along with an in-house culinary team handling made-to-order deli and hot bar items. The chain has built a reputation around stricter quality standards than many traditional grocers, avoiding artificial preservatives, colors, flavors and sweeteners across its house brand products.

The store will anchor The Village, a roughly 127,000 square foot shopping center developed by Pappas Investments along Elk Grove Boulevard, between Big Horn Boulevard and Waymark Drive. Pappas also developed The Ridge, the nearby Costco-anchored center just west of the new project.

The Village sits close to two other major developments taking shape in the area, Elk Grove’s Project Elevate retail and housing project and Dignity Health’s planned hospital, the city’s first, expected to break ground later this year. Together, the projects mark a significant buildout for that stretch of Elk Grove Boulevard.
