Murphys Station, the gas station and market at 138 E Highway 4 in Murphys, CA, has a new owner. State filings show JKE Okawa Inc, led by Dea Anne Robertson, took over the site’s liquor license, according to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Robertson confirmed the change of ownership to What Now Sacramento, adding that no changes are planned for the business.
The station had been run by Kevin Rasmusson through KDR Enterprises since 2015, making this the first change in ownership the site has seen in about a decade. The license itself dates back further, tracing to an earlier holder before Rasmusson took over.
Murphys is a small town of about 2,200 people in the Sierra foothills, known more for wine than gas. Highway 4 runs straight through downtown, past more than two dozen tasting rooms packed into a few blocks of historic Gold Rush buildings. Murphys Station sits along that same route, making it one of the first stops for visitors coming up from the valley before they reach Main Street.
