A new spot for ice cream is preparing to open in Orlando, and it’s not your typical scoop shop. Opening at 14990 Kissimmee Vineland Rd, Suite 132, near Pizza 52 and Yakuza Sushi, Sweet Cone Ice Cream is what co-owner Zack Ijaz calls an “upscale ice cream lounge.”

“It’s going to have a very nice ambiance; clean, upscale,” Ijaz told What Now on Friday. Ijaz says the opening is coming soon, but a date is still not totally nailed down. “We’re aiming for an opening around the middle of August, but it’s possible it might crawl toward the end of the month, or at the latest, the beginning of September.

Walking into Sweet Cone, you’ll come across an eye-catching photo station with the Sweet Cone Teddy Bear. Unlike your typical side-of-the-road ice cream stand, Sweet Cone will feature comfortable booth and chair-and-table seating and energetic music.

The menu will feature ice cream made by the Amish community in the Tampa area, alongside (or combined with) baked goods like donuts, churros, and brownies. There will also be milkshakes and fresh juices (think pineapple, mango, and other refreshing flavors).

Ijaz is opening Sweet Cone together with his business partner, Stefan Larsson.

“We both always had some business ideas and a kind of entrepreneur spirit within us,” Ijaz said. “We found a great location, and it was close to Disney. We had a vision for this place, that it would be a great spot for parents to come have a good experience with the kids. There aren’t a lot of ice cream places near here, and we wanted to do something different from what you usually get.”

Most importantly, Sweet Cone will be serving up a high-quality scoop, said Ijaz.

“It’s premium ice cream. We wanted to ensure that our vendor was coming from the Amish community in the Tampa area; their ice cream is really rich in butterfat, so the richness and flavor of these ice creams is very high-quality.”
