Unc’s Pizza is located inside the historic Detroit & Northern Building at 1133 Griswold Street. The restaurant is a collaboration between the owners of Dime Store and Tony Sacco of Mootz Pizzeria + Bar.

Unc’s Pizza spans about 7,300 square feet within the building. It includes approximately 6,300 square feet of interior space spread across two floors. The restaurant features 80 seats inside and 50 outdoor seats.

The concept is developed by Larry Kahn, Ann-Marie Murphy, and Jeff Alexander. “We wanted to create the neighborhood pizza place we all wish still existed,” said co-owner Larry Kahn. “The kind of place where everyone feels welcome, families stay awhile, and another chair is pulled up to the table.”

Uncle Paul, the restaurant’s namesake, was a World War II veteran and long-time Detroit Edison employee. He was known for his warm, generous, and strong sense of community spirit, which influenced the concept of Unc’s Pizza.

The kitchen is headed by Executive Chefs Andrew Shedden and Josh Taylor. They have experience at Café Ba-Ba-Reeba!, Moto in Chicago, and other establishments such as Olin, Dime Store, and Supergeil in Detroit.
