A popular area bakery is bringing life back to a defunct Starbucks location. Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro & Cafe will be taking over the Rockville storefront, bringing delicious treats and coffee to Montgomery County diners, reports local media outlet MoCo Show.
The 8010 Gramercy Boulevard space has sat vacant since Starbucks closed its doors in September of 2025. It is not yet known when, precisely, Roggenart will begin serving customers out of the space.
Roggenart, known for “using carefully selected ingredients and techniques inspired by authentic European baking traditions”, is no stranger to Montgomery County. The cafe concept previously operated a location in Muddy Branch Square, though the space has since been taken over by LumThai.
Founded in June of 2017, Roggenart has expanded to 12 locations, with a strong concentration in the DMV, as well as spaces in Baltimore and Chicago. The bakery has earned an ardent fanbase thanks to its commitment to meticulously crafted baked goods, made from superior ingredients. The website offers a glimpse into what makes Roggenart so memorable, saying: “We believe great food starts with quality, patience, and attention to detail, which is why everything is made fresh throughout the day in small batches.”
