Levy’s Clothier is closing its doors by the end of 2026. The decision was influenced by health issues and an upcoming lease renewal. The closure will end 171 years of the Levy family’s business in Nashville.
Levy’s Clothier Announces It Is Closing, Marking the End of an Era
Levy’s Clothier, located at 3900 Hillsboro Pike in Green Hills, will close at the end of the year. The store is one of the oldest continuously family-owned clothing retailers in the U.S.
Five generations of the Levy family have operated the store, which has served Nashville customers for 171 years. It offers luxury men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, custom garments, alterations, and repairs.
Levy’s is known for its personalized service and in-house tailor shop. It has built its reputation around personal styling, wardrobe consultations, and long-term relationships with customers.
Factors Behind the Closure
Fifth-generation owners David and Ellen Levy cited health issues and an upcoming lease renewal in the decision to close. September will be the store’s final ‘Custom Month,’ offering customers a final opportunity to order custom clothing and receive special discounts.
“While the decision to close is bittersweet, I am grateful for our incredible staff whose attention to detail is unmatched and to our customers for giving us the distinct privilege of dressing their family for generations,” said David Levy, the store’s president.
Levy also recognized the support of the family’s vendors, his family, and store associates over the years. He now looks forward to celebrating the store’s success with Nashville over the next few months.
“I know I won’t be able to walk away from 49 years of friendships, but I look forward to more time spent with my family,” added Levy.
The Levy family is inviting customers to visit the store and share their memories and experiences during this period. Levy’s will remain open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until its closure. Private appointments are also available.
