Chicago is getting a new destination for dogs and their owners as Zoomies prepares to open an indoor dog park, café and bar at 3455 N. Elston Ave, according to the company website,
Founded by Devon Brown, Zoomies is transforming a roughly 24,000-square-foot former warehouse into an indoor dog-focused destination designed to bring together play, food, drinks and community.
The space is planned to include an indoor dog park with separate play areas, along with daycare, boarding and grooming services. For dog owners, the concept will feature a café, full-service bar, lounge and coworking areas.
Zoomies will also host community events, including breed meetups, trivia nights and themed gatherings, as the business aims to create a social hub for Chicago dog owners.
Brown said the project has been in development for months, with the team working through architectural plans, building permits and construction. The company has already completed demolition and begun awarding construction contracts, according to a May 2026 update.
The project has faced some construction challenges, including the need for upgraded HVAC infrastructure to meet city requirements. Zoomies said the upgrades have increased the buildout budget and extended the timeline.
The business is currently targeting an opening in fall 2026, according to its membership website.
Zoomies has also begun offering memberships ahead of the opening, giving customers the opportunity to join the business before the doors officially open.
The planned location at 3455 N. Elston Ave. is in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood.
The city has also approved the liquor component of the project, allowing Zoomies to move forward with its plans for an on-site bar. Chicago’s liquor application records list Zoomies, Inc. at 3449-3455 N. Elston Ave. for on-premises alcohol consumption and an outdoor patio.
With its combination of indoor dog play, food, drinks and pet services, Zoomies is positioning itself as a year-round destination where Chicagoans can spend time with their dogs regardless of the weather.
