Sprouts Farmers Market is set to anchor the new 170,000-to-200,000-square-foot retail development in Spring called Grand Imperial Marketplace, according to the grocery brand. The new Sprouts is slated to open at 5922 Imperial Promenade Dr alongside a host of other stores like Ross and Marshalls.

What Now Houston spoke with the company’s media team, who shared the latest about the development that’s currently underway.

“Sprouts Farmers Market can confirm it has a signed lease for a new location in Spring, Texas, in the Grand Imperial Marketplace, scheduled to open in 2028,” the Sprouts media team said.

“Sprouts is excited to continue growing its footprint across the Lone Star State and bringing our wide assortment of fresh, natural, and better-for-you products to new communities.”

The brand has continued to expand its reach across the state to 68 Sprouts Farmers Market stores and is embarking on upping that number.

Sprouts Farmers Market was founded in 2002 in Chandler, Arizona, by members of the Boney family, who have a deep history in the grocery business dating back to 1943. Henry Boney opened his first fruit stand in San Diego, California, in 1943. This small produce stand eventually grew into a beloved local chain named Henry’s Farmers Market. After the family sold Henry’s in the late 1990s, Henry’s son and grandson, Stan and Shon Boney, launched Sprouts to continue the family tradition of providing farm-fresh produce and healthy foods at affordable prices. The company successfully hit the Nasdaq in 2013.

“True to its farm-stand heritage, Sprouts offers a unique grocery experience featuring an open layout with fresh produce at the heart of the store,” The Woodlands Sprouts’ store website reads.

“Sprouts inspires wellness naturally with a carefully curated assortment of better-for-you products paired with purpose-driven people. Sprouts continues to bring the latest in wholesome, innovative products made with lifestyle-friendly ingredients such as organicplant-based, and gluten-free.”

Today, the brand is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, and operates on a smaller-store blueprint that puts fresh produce in the center of the store. There are now more than 480 Sprouts stores across 25 U.S. states. The Greater Houston region currently has eight, with the Spring location on deck to become its tenth, as the brand works on another opening in The Woodlands.

Sprouts Farmers Market is anticipated to open in Spring within the new Grand Imperial Marketplace at 5922 Imperial Promenade Dr by 2028.
