Located at Maybank Highway and Old Folly Road, James Island Center is a retail center anchored by Harris Teeter and Pet Supplies Plus. Home to restaurants like Barberitos, Pho Saigon, and Muddy Waters, the retail center will soon add a new Five Guys to its restaurant roster.

This week, What Now came across permitting paperwork submitted to the City of Charleston for a new Five Guys at 1739 Maybank Highway, Suite V. As it turns out, franchisee Life’s Food has begun hiring for the location.

“Life’s Food is a family-owned franchise group proudly operating over 33 Five Guys restaurants across the Carolinas and Tennessee,” says the job post. “For three years running, our employees have recognized us as a Great Place to Work, reflecting our commitment to creating a supportive and rewarding workplace.”

Five Guys, on the other hand, is a household name, one of America’s favorite burger spots. Featuring burgers and other handhelds, milkshakes, hot dogs, and fries, Five Guys has been a kind of instant classic in the burger space ever since it launched more than 40 years ago—and it has already expanded considerably and continues to grow at an impressive pace.

“Real is the name of the game at Five Guys,” says the burger chain’s website. “The burgers are made to order, the fries are hand-cut, the toppings are prepared fresh each morning, and the shakes are the highest quality. Real – it’s who we are and what we do, since 1986.”

Five Guys’ burgers come in varieties like the classic Hamburger (Fresh, hand-formed patties hot off the grill and placed on a soft, toasted sesame seed bun. Add as many toppings as you want) and the Bacon Cheeseburger (Fresh patties hot off the grill with American-style cheese and crispy Applewood smoked bacon. Placed on a soft, toasted sesame seed bun. Add as many toppings as you want). Hand-spun shake flavors include Blackberry, Coffee, Peanut Butter, and Reese’s Cups.
