Located at 26 St. Marks Place in the East Village, 886 is known for its contemporary take on Taiwanese cuisine. The restaurant will serve its final meal on August 31. The restaurant is popular for its modern, New York spin on Taiwanese food.
The restaurant announced that it will be closing its doors permanently this month. Its social media post looks back on the restaurant’s journey through a series of pictures. It reads, “886 has touched many lives in the past 9 years. But it’s unfortunately come time for us to say goodbye. Our final service will be Monday, 8/31.”
The restaurant did not disclose a reason for the closure. 886 continues the post by inviting the community for the last round of its beloved menu.
886 is known for its modern or “inauthentically authentic” interpretation of Taiwanese cooking. Some particularly popular dishes include Taiwanese fried chicken, three-cup chicken, popcorn shrimp, dry beef noodles, scallion pancakes, and Taiwanese sausage.
