Wawa, the storied gas station and convenience store chain, traces its history all the way back to 1902, when George Wood started the first Wawa dairy. A lot has changed for the brand over more than a century, but it remains a privately held family business even after growing to hundreds of locations in Florida alone (where it has the most locations), and hundreds more in the rest of the U.S.
“We’re continually spreading our wings to bring quality and convenience to new neighborhoods,” says the Wawa website, and sure enough, Wawa now appears to be bringing a new store to the Belmont/Riverview area.
Local insider Bokors Corner published coverage this summer showing submitted plans that would bring a new Wawa to the northwest corner of US-301 and Paseo Al Mar Boulevard.
Bokors Corner has been following the story for some time, remarking in another post earlier this year that construction has already begun on the location.
Wawa is also known for popular food offerings ranging from breakfast to the $5 Sizzli Meal, to coffee drinks and matcha. You’ll find sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, and lots of other choices for food on the go.
