Tom and Brandon Brock are adding a new concept to Winston-Salem’s dining scene with The Fieldhouse Tavern, a food-focused sports bar coming to The Grounds at 1001 Deacon Boulevard. WFMY News 2 reports that the restaurant is part of the first wave of businesses announced for the 100-acre mixed-use development, which is currently under construction and targeting a fall 2027 opening.
The Fieldhouse Tavern will give the Brock brothers a new concept to work with as The Grounds takes shape around Winston-Salem’s Deacon Boulevard area. The Grounds identifies the restaurateurs as the team behind several local concepts, including Sage & Salt, Tuscani and Spicy Pickle, with the upcoming tavern representing a new addition to their restaurant portfolio.
Food will be a major part of the concept rather than an afterthought to the games. Information shared by The Grounds describes The Fieldhouse Tavern as a food-forward sports bar built around chef-driven dishes, premium audiovisual technology and a curated beverage program, creating a more dining-focused take on the familiar sports bar format.
The restaurant will also stretch beyond the typical four walls of a neighborhood tavern. The Grounds’ website highlights a two-story design with a rooftop bar, giving The Fieldhouse Tavern an elevated outdoor component and views across the surrounding development. The rooftop is expected to provide another gathering space for guests before and after events in the area.
The setting should give the concept plenty of built-in activity. WFMY News 2 notes that The Grounds is being developed near several of Winston-Salem’s major event venues, while the broader project will combine restaurants, retail, offices, residential spaces and walking trails. The Fieldhouse Tavern will therefore sit within a district designed to draw visitors beyond individual events.
The restaurant will be part of The Grounds’ Retail & Dining Village, a central component of the development. The Grounds describes the village as approximately 42,000 square feet of experiential retail and dining, with patios, green spaces, gathering areas and rooftop spaces intended to create an active environment throughout the day.
Construction is already moving forward around the future restaurant. In its September 2026 update, The Grounds says retail construction is underway, brickwork on the multifamily buildings is nearing completion and the office building is taking shape. A multi-use trail has also been completed, with select public access planned around major events this fall.
For The Fieldhouse Tavern, the next milestone will be the completion of The Grounds itself. The development has set fall 2027 as the anticipated opening for Phase I, bringing the Brock brothers’ newest concept into a growing Winston-Salem district that is being built around dining, entertainment and year-round activity.
