Imagine biting into a classic Five Guys burger, digging through an endless pile of fries in the signature brown paper bag, and washing it all down with an espresso or dirty martini. That dream will soon become a reality in Times Square.
Five Guys will open its latest location at 721 7th Ave., marking its second Times Square outpost. The new restaurant will join the existing location on 42nd St. near the Port Authority.
“Times Square, if we go a few blocks, it’s a different market. It’s different foot traffic. We’ve always kept an eye on the Northern part because we knew we wanted to be in that corridor. It’s right across from the M&M store, and right in front of it, you can see where the ball drops,” franchise owner Patrice Leys told Whatnow New York City.
The upcoming location will span two floors.
The first floor will feature the brand’s signature red-and-white aesthetic and ordering counter, while the second floor will offer a full bar and seating with table service.
“It’s a classic Five Guys, but we’ll have a loungy look, and the color scheme will be a bit different in the bar area. There will be a beautiful mural that depicts New York City and where we sit in Times Square,” Leys said.
The location will also feature a retail corner offering exclusive Five Guys Times Square merchandise, including hats, T-shirts and sweatshirts.
While Five Guys has 13 other locations across Manhattan, Leys said he’s always excited to serve a different part of the community.
“Right now there are people that probably take the train to go visit the closest Five Guys, but when they get one in their neighborhood, it becomes their Five Guys. That part is always rewarding. We’re providing great burgers and great fries to the community,” he said.
The team aims to open the new location before Thanksgiving. Once open, Five Guys will operate daily until 4 a.m., with Leys noting, “Times Square never sleeps.”
