The company is moving from one big city to another.
From Block Club Chicago, the national chain Blank Street Coffee is expanding to the Windy City at 1588 N Milwaukee Avenue. This is at the major six-way intersection of Milwaukee, West North Avenue and North Damen Avenue. The company has not yet announced an opening date.
The company, founded by Issam Freiha and Vinay Menda, has seen success in New York, as well as the Boston area, D.C.and Studio City, California. In 2022, the owners debuted their first international location in London, England. Now, they are up to over 100 cafes across the world.
Matcha has become a popular option at Blank Street Coffee locations, as well as other unique creations like the cinnamon bun latte and daydream latte. Matches and coffees are offered as both hot or cold brews. Blank Street also sells products like sleeves for iced drinks, gift cards and matcha powder.
The building is home to other restaurant concepts including Flash Taco and Paulie Gee’s. Bodega Bay Chicago is right next to the storefront, and this will be accessible right off the Damen CTA Blue Line. Starbucks has not been operating here for about a year.
What Now Chicago is awaiting comment from Blank Street Coffee on the Wicker Park location.
