It looks like Ross Dress for Less is continuing to grow its footprint across Greater Boston, with a new Braintree location now in the works.

According to The Connecticut Scoop, the off-price retailer is planning to open at 250 Grossman Drive in the Marketplace at Braintree shopping center, taking over the more than 37,000-square-foot space that was previously slated to become an Amazon Fresh grocery store but never opened.

Building permits were issued in September for the store’s interior fit-out, as well as exterior work that will give the building a fresh look. Plans call for the facade to be repainted in neutral cream and white tones, in line with Ross’s signature color scheme and branding.

The Braintree store is the latest addition to a growing list of Ross locations planned across Massachusetts. The retailer is also expected to open a new store at Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers in late 2026, followed by a location in Wareham that is currently on track to open next spring. Additionally, a West Springfield location is slated to open Saturday, October 10, while another store is planned for Chicopee in March 2027.

Founded in 1950, Ross adopted its current Ross Dress for Less off-price format in 1982. Today, the company has nearly 2,000 stores across 44 states, Washington, D.C., Guam, and Puerto Rico, making it the largest off-price retail chain in the United States. The expansion comes as Ross continues to grow its presence throughout the Northeast, adding several new locations in Connecticut and New York over the past year.

Shoppers at the upcoming locations can expect Ross’s familiar mix of brand-name and designer merchandise, including apparel, accessories, footwear, toys, and home goods. Items are typically sold for 20% to 60% less than comparable prices at department and specialty stores.

The Connecticut Scoop reports that the Braintree location is expected to debut sometime in 2027, though an official grand opening date has not yet been announced.

What Now Boston has reached out to Ross Dress for Less representatives for additional details about the upcoming store and the company’s broader Massachusetts expansion plans and will share updates as they become available.
