Doug Fir Lounge is expected to reopen at 301 S.E. Morrison St. in Portland in February 2027, possibly sooner. The beloved indie music venue and restaurant is taking over the former home of Le Bistro Montage, the late-night spot that closed in 2020.
The new Doug Fir will have a 365-person capacity for live music, along with a restaurant and seasonal outdoor seating. A liquor license application for a full on-premise license was filed with the city on Monday, listing a 2:30 a.m. closing time.
The Oregonian first reported the early 2027 timeline. Mike Quinn, co-founder of Monqui Presents, the promoter behind the Doug Fir, told the outlet the venue could open as soon as February or earlier.
The reopening date has moved back from earlier plans, which had Doug Fir returning in fall 2026. Those plans called for a basement bar, a patio, an upgraded sound system, and expanded dressing rooms and parking.
Doug Fir opened in 2004 on the ground level of the Jupiter Hotel at 830 E. Burnside St. and operated there for 19 years, hosting touring and local bands. The venue closed in 2023 and announced plans to relocate to the Morrison Street space.
The old Burnside location is set to become Galleria & Grotto, a project from A2Z Jupiter LLC, a Miami-based group that also owns the Pearl District restaurant Janken.
