A familiar Franklin bar is beginning its next chapter, with new ownership and a name change. Tin Roof 2, located at 9135 Carothers Pkwy #100, has transitioned to new name The Rafters, following its acquisition by Max Coyle of W-C Management Group LLC, according to WKRN.

Coyle acquired the bar’s assets this week, following the Tin Roof 2’s announcement that it would be closing. The iconic local joint had recent issues with the Franklin Beer Board suspending its beer license for serving alcohol to intoxicated customers. There were also nearly 100 police calls to the address over the course of the last year.

Tin Roof 2 had operated for almost 20 years. Its counterpart, the original Tin Roof near Music Row, is still alive and well.

The Rafters is awaiting a new beer permit and liquor license, but its kitchen is running as usual during this transitionary period. There will also be adjusted operating hours, hiring and training of new employees, and a shift toward a more family-friendly atmosphere.

This change adds another hospitality venture to Coyle’s portfolio. He is also a franchise owner of Another Broken Egg Cafe in Bellevue and Murfreesboro, the latter of which What Now covered prior to opening. That location, at 2615 Medical Center Parkway, debuted about two months ago.
