Hopdoddy Burger Bar is preparing to expand into Schertz, Texas, with its first location in the city planned for the Schertz Station development along Interstate 35.
According to CultureMap San Antonio, new state regulatory filings indicate that construction on the restaurant at 18574 IH 35 N. is expected to wrap up by early April 2027. A company representative told the publication that Hopdoddy is aiming to open the location in spring or summer 2027, although an exact opening date has not been announced.
Founded in Austin in 2010, Hopdoddy Burger Bar is known for its gourmet burgers, broad selection of toppings and full bar. The chain’s menu typically features Angus and Kobe beef burgers, along with chicken, ahi tuna and turkey options. Guests can also find hand-cut fries, including varieties topped with Parmesan truffle seasoning, green chili and hot honey with sage.
Beyond burgers, select locations offer additional items such as fried chicken strips, chicken lollipops and sandwiches, including a Nashville hot chicken option. The beverage menu includes beer, cocktails and boozy milkshakes, as well as the brand’s signature Doble Fina margarita.
Hopdoddy also supports charitable causes through its Good Night/Good Cause burger, with a portion of sales benefiting nonprofit organizations. The charity partner for the upcoming Schertz location has not yet been announced.
The company was founded by Guy Villavaso, Larry Foles, Chuck Smith and Larry Perdido and has grown from its Austin roots into a multi-location restaurant chain. Hopdoddy has also expanded across San Antonio, with locations at The Rim, along Loop 1604 and on Huebner Road.
The Schertz restaurant will add another location to the brand’s Texas footprint. While construction is expected to be completed in early April 2027, guests will have to wait for further announcements for a confirmed opening date.
