The restaurant and retail scene in Monroe is continuing to grow this year.
Archer’s Book Lounge is coming to a new location in the downtown at 39 S Monroe Street. This is set to be a three-story cocktail bar, coffee shop and bookstore all as one concept. The new business will open sometime later this fall.
Owners Joel and Alaina Williamson have been teasing the new concept on social media for the last few months. The two are locals of Monroe and real estate investors in the area who wanted to create a community gathering place. Recently, they announced much progress has been made on the second and third floors, and book cases are now being delivered.
“Good books, warm drinks and great company,” says the description on their website.
The team is still working on the menu, but visitors can expect handcrafted coffees and cocktails. Community events like reading groups and author nights are also going to happen at the space. Seating like plush sofas and cozy chairs are being put into the lounge area.
The storefront is on the east side of S Monroe Street, across from The Michigan Museum of Horror. Martin’s Shoe House is right next to the store, and this is near the intersection of E Front Street. Monroe is a 40-minute drive from downtown Detroit.
More updates on the new location can be found on the team’s Facebook or Instagram pages.
