Saus at Bow Market is going to end operations at its Somerville location by the end of the year. Tanya and Chin, owners of the vegetarian staple, shared the update with customers. The restaurant had previously shuttered in Boston in 2024.

Saus at Bow Market is Set to Close

The owners said through social media that the restaurant would close in December 2026. However, a last day of service is not yet shared.

Tanya and Chin have also not mentioned a reason for the shutdown. Their announcement focuses on “moving on to new goals.” It does not confirm any further changes to the business beyond the closure of the current location.

The farewell post adds that the owners plan to hold a farewell party on the restaurant’s final day of service.

The owners also reflected on the relationships they built with other small business owners at Bow Market. They emphasized collaborations with Remnant for St. Patrick’s Day and Buenas for SoupFest, alongside participation in events such as the Vintage Market and FluffFest.

The latest closure is only about Somerville. The original Saus restaurant at 33 Union Street in Boston had previously announced a separate closure in 2024.

About the Restaurant

Saus‘s beginning goes back to 2008 when three university graduates lost their jobs during the recession. They decided to open a food establishment with help from friends and family.

The restaurant opened its second location a decade later at Bow Market in Somerville. Its menu features hand-cut fries and other comfort food options. Other offerings include salads, sandos, and sodas. The company’s website shows a kids menu and vegan options as well.

As the restaurant nears its closure, the owners are remembering the relationships and years of experience they gained. Patrons may join its farewell celebration before it closes in December.
