A Detroit local is turning her German cuisine concept into a permanent restaurant.
From their social media, DeutschTroit has just signed the lease for their restaurant coming to 3672 Chicago Road in Warren. This follows the former Chocolate Gallery Cafe at the building closing earlier this month. An opening date is still being determined as construction needs to begin.
Owner Jana Lehmann already runs the kitchen at Lagerhaus #5 in Eastern Market five days a week. In the past, she has also served her cuisine at spots like River’s Edge Brewing Co. and Urbanfest Brewing Company. The team has wanted to open a dedicated restaurant for the last year.
“What started for us with the taste of authentic German food and bringing people together is growing into something new — and we couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter,” says the post from DeutschTroit. Lehmann also credits the owners of The Chocolate Gallery Cafe for building a great community.
The building is at the southwest corner of the Chicago-Ryan roads intersection. Restaurants are situated at each corner, including New Babylon Cuisine, Maestro Chef and a Hungry Howie’s. This is also near Warren’s Halmich Park.
According to Lehmann, it is early in the opening process, and more updates on the restaurant will be released on their Facebook and Instagram pages in the near future.
