Five Below is working on its next store in the Greater Houston region. According to a recently filed permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the new Five Below is expected to open in the new Grand Imperial Marketplace at 5225 Riley Fuzzel Road.

The permit for the new Five Below also notes that the new store will open at the corner of Grand Parkway & Imperial Promenade Drive in the large retail center. Construction for the 8,281-square-foot store is expected to start toward the end of January next year and is slated for completion by early October 2027. If permitting goes smoothly and the estimated $175,000 construction project stays on track, the new Five Below should open in the Grand Imperial Marketplace by fall 2027.

At the helm of the opening is Frank Del Casale, who was listed as the tenant on the permit. What Now Houston briefly spoke with Del Casale, who confirmed the opening but was unable to share further details by the time of this publication.

“Five Below is a leading high-growth value retailer offering trend-right, high-quality products loved by tweens, teens and beyond. We believe life is better when customers are free to “let go & have fun” in an amazing experience filled with unlimited possibilities,” the Five Below website reads.

“With most items priced between $1 and $5 and some extreme value items priced beyond $5, Five Below makes it easy to say YES! to the newest, coolest stuff across eight awesome Five Below worlds: Style, Room, Sports, Tech, Create, Party, Candy, and New & Now.”

Tom Vellios and David Schlessinger founded Five Below in 2002 in Wayne, Pennsylvania, with the mission of creating an affordable shopping destination for tweens and teens ages 8 to 14. The company went public on July 19, 2012, trading on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol FIVE with an initial offering price of $17 per share. In 2018, the company relocated its corporate headquarters to Philadelphia, PA, and opened a flagship store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York. The company organizes its stores into eight sections: Style, Room, Sports, Tech, Create, Party, Candy, and New & Now. Most items cost $5 or less, designed to let kids and teens make independent purchasing decisions with their allowances.

Winnie Park became CEO in December 2024, and the retailer expanded to more than 2,000 locations across the United States. Nearly 2,067 Five Below stores now operate across 47 states and territories. Five Below operates 199 stores in Texas across 118 cities, with at least 20 serving the Greater Houston region and its visitors.

What Now also reached out to Five Below’s Senior Vice President of Operations, Marc Ehle, to find out more about expansion plans. But we didn’t hear back by the time of publication.
