Back Nine Golf is continuing to expand its reach across the Lone Star State. According to a recently filed permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the new Back Nine Golf facility is planned to open in the Southwest Freeway Retail Center at 3800 Southwest Freeway Ste. 136.
The permit further states that construction for the new Back Nine Golf is expected to start next month and wrap up in January 2027. If permitting goes smoothly and the estimated $350,000 construction project stays on track, the new 2,953-square-foot Back Nine Golf should open by early 2027.
At the helm of the opening is Nygaard Czapko Ventures, LLC, which was listed on the permit. Kris Nygaard runs the company. What Now Houston reached out to Nygaard to find out more about the upcoming opening. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“From competitive challenges to family-friendly fun, Back Nine Golf offers a full calendar of interactive experiences,” the Back Nine Golf website reads.
“Whether you’re joining an indoor golf tournament, hosting a private event, or enrolling in a camp, our events are designed to bring people together and make indoor golfing more exciting for all ages and skill levels.”
Back Nine® Golf was founded around 2020–2021 in St. George, Utah, by Wil Bangerter, co-founder Brady Carlson, and marketing director Ashley Harmon. It began as a small side project that required just a handful of local golfers to break even. The brand pioneered a 24/7, app-managed, self-service indoor golf simulator model with private bays and no on-site employees. The facilities use high-tech golf simulators, including Full Swing and TrackMan systems, offering access to hundreds of virtual courses and detailed swing analytics.
The company has grown from a single Utah location into a fast-scaling international franchise network with hundreds of locations open or sold across multiple states and countries. There are now 245 open indoor Back Nine Golf locations and over 600 total locations sold across multiple countries. Texas has 35 of those locations, with 14 in the Houston region.
