A5 Steakhouse is bringing its Michelin-recommended concept from Colorado to the Lone Star State. The Denver-based eatery is preparing to open its second location in a new market. According to a recently filed permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, A5 Steakhouse is expected to open in the Texas Tower in Downtown Houston at 845 Texas Ave., Suite 125.

The permit further details that construction of the new A5 Steakhouse is planned to start at the beginning of next year and is slated to wrap up by the end of May 2027. If permitting goes smoothly and the estimated $5.7 million construction project stays on track, the 6,582-square-foot steakhouse should open by next spring.

At the helm of the opening is the Denver hospitality group that founded the concept, The Culinary Creative Group, led by Juan Padró. What Now Houston reached out to Padró to find out more about the exciting upcoming opening. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.

“The Culinary Creative Group is an incubator for culinary talent, specializing in concept development as the owner and operator of 12 distinct concepts, including several critically acclaimed, Michelin-recognized restaurants,” The Culinary Creative Group website reads.

“Our restaurants, cocktail bars, and coffee shops are known for their exceptional hospitality, while our menus are centered on both local and global seasonal ingredients.”

A5 Steakhouse is a modern, retro-inspired chophouse in Denver, founded by Padró’s Culinary Creative Group and chef Max MacKissoc. Located in Denver’s Lower Downtown (LoDo) at the former home of the long-running Wazee Supper Club, which operated for more than60 years, and the short-lived French eatery Morin, A5 Steakhouse officially opened in Denver in November 2021. Designed as an antithesis to a traditional, buttoned-up steakhouse, the concept blends a 1950s–1970s “fern bar” and tiki aesthetics with tropical wallpaper, sleek mod seating, and upbeat music.

Recognized as a Michelin Guide Recommended Restaurant in Colorado, A5 Steakhouse focuses on custom-seam butchery of whole primals and sources beef from specialized ranchers and farms like Creekstone Farms, Black Hawk Farms, Westholme, and Strube Ranch, alongside Miyazaki Prefecture A5 Wagyu.

“A5 is an escape from the everyday – a chef-driven, contemporary steakhouse reimagining tradition through creative expression, global techniques, and passionate hospitality that takes the uppity out of upscale,” the A5 Steakhouse website reads.

“This is where food is taken seriously — and everything else, a little less so.”

Named a top steakhouse by publications including Denver Westword and Denver Life Magazine, A5 Steakhouse continues to bloom.

What Now also reached out to The Culinary Creative Group’s CEO and Board Member Richard Flaherty, who confirmed the opening but was unable to share further details by the time of this publication.

A5 Steakhouse is anticipated to debut in the Texas Tower in Downtown Houston at 845 Texas Ave., Suite 125 by Spring 2027.
