UniMart, a Japanese-style convenience store that recently debuted in Orlando, is preparing to open a second location in Winter Park, Florida.

According to Orlando Weekly, the upcoming store is planned for 501 N. Orlando Ave., Suite 227, Winter Park, FL 32789, inside the Center of Winter Park shopping plaza. The new location is expected to open in December 2026.

The concept was developed by chef William Shen, known for his two-Michelin-starred restaurant Sorekara, alongside James Beard Award-nominated restaurateurs Johnny and Jimmy Tung. The first UniMart opened inside Mills Market in Orlando, drawing customers with its selection of Japanese convenience-store favorites.

The Winter Park location will occupy approximately 1,000 square feet, providing more room for products than the original store. Customers can expect freshly prepared sushi, bento boxes, fried chicken, Japanese snacks, imported beverages, and other grab-and-go options.

The second store will also expand the concept’s offerings with matcha, soft serve, and fresh produce, particularly Japanese fruit. Specialty items could include premium Ibaraki strawberries, Crown melons and Nashi sand pears, giving shoppers access to Japanese produce that is not commonly found in traditional convenience stores.

UniMart will also carry omiyage, the Japanese tradition of bringing souvenirs or specialty gifts home for friends and family after traveling. These products will add a gift-shopping element to the store alongside its food and beverage selection.

The planned location will be next to Light on the Sugar, another business backed by the Tung brothers, and near Bento Asian Kitchen, the restaurant that helped establish their presence in the area.

The expansion reflects the partners’ interest in growing the Japanese convenience-store concept across Central Florida. Johnny Tung told the publication mentioned above that additional locations are being considered in areas such as the University of Central Florida, Lake Nona and Winter Garden, as well as walkable neighborhoods including Baldwin Park, Park Avenue, Disney Springs and Audubon Park.

While the Winter Park store is the next planned location, further details about its exact opening date have not been announced.
