La Pasadita Market is coming to Sin City! According to a City of Las Vegas permit, the new Mexican supermarket is expected to open in the Charleston/Westside area of Las Vegas within Pennwood Plaza at 3851 Pennwood Ave #165.
At the helm of the opening is Yuribia Jimenez Mata, who was listed on the permit. What Now Las Vegas reached out to Mata to find out more about the upcoming opening. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“La Pasadita Supermarket is a grocery store that offers a variety of fresh produce, essential cooking ingredients, household supplies, and much more,”the La Pasadita Market website reads.
“Inside, you’ll find a kitchen preparing delicious Mexican favorites, a bakery crafting irresistible desserts freshly baked bread, and a meat market supplying high-quality cuts of beef, pork, and chicken!”
Today, multiple brands across the country go by La Pasadita Market or Las Pasadita Supermarket. It’s hard to say whether they’re all related.
La Pasadita is a historic, multi-generational, family-owned taqueria empire in Chicago, Illinois, founded by David Espinoza Sr. in 1976 and famous for its charcoal-grilled carne asada tacos and classic-style Mexican street food. It started in a small, box-shaped yellow building that used to be a burger joint called Hamburger Castle. For its first several months, the tiny walk-up window had no official name. People waiting outside would often say, “The bus is coming!”, which inspired the name La Pasadita—meaning “a quick stop” or “passing through quickly.”
There are now 23 La Pasadita stores across 10 U.S. states.
