The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel in Dana Point has changed ownership following its acquisition by KSL Capital Partners. The private equity firm completed the purchase of the 373-room oceanfront resort.
According to CoStar, which reported the acquisition, KSL Capital Partners acquired the property from Strategic Hotels & Resorts. The resort’s affiliated management company, Peregrine Hospitality, will oversee its operations under the new ownership.
The transaction marks another change in ownership for the property, which has been part of several major hotel investment deals over the past two decades. The resort last sold for $317.2 million as part of Anbang Insurance Group’s acquisition of the Strategic Hotels & Resorts portfolio from Blackstone Group.
Blackstone purchased the hotel portfolio in December 2015 for approximately $6 billion before selling it to Anbang in a $5.5 billion transaction in 2016. The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel was included in that portfolio.
The resort has 373 rooms and is situated along the Southern California coastline in Dana Point. Its property includes oceanfront accommodations and resort amenities.
The ownership change follows a significant renovation completed in 2025. According to the Orange County Business Journal, the property underwent a $50 million renovation, which refreshed the four-story hotel.
KSL Capital Partners has investments across the hospitality industry, including hotels, resorts and other travel-related businesses. Its acquisition of the Dana Point property adds another luxury resort to its portfolio.
The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel will continue operating under its existing hotel name, with Peregrine Hospitality taking responsibility for management following the sale.
