Dark Side Brick Oven Pizza Co. is expanding beyond Boerne, with owner Michael Hawes planning to open the concept’s first San Antonio location by March 2027.
In an Instagram announcement, Hawes shared that the upcoming restaurant will be an express location in a new strip mall. Although he has not yet disclosed the exact address, he confirmed that the space will feature some of the 1980s collectibles that have helped make the original restaurant a destination.
Opened in May 2024, Dark Side Brick Oven Pizza Co. serves Neapolitan-style pizzas in a dining room filled with Hawes’ extensive collection of movie memorabilia. The restaurant embraces Gen X nostalgia, with life-sized figures and references to films and characters such as E.T., Teen Wolf, Superman, and Star Wars.
The restaurant gained widespread attention in 2025 after Texas-based content creator Bethany Tucker, known as @tasteoftexas, shared a video walkthrough of the space. The clip drew millions of views on TikTok and Instagram, introducing the pizzeria to a much wider audience.
As the restaurant grew in popularity, Hawes expanded the Boerne concept in late 2025 with Darkside After Dark, a full-sized bar inspired by Val Verde, the fictional setting of Predator. The space features artificial greenery, faux stone walls, and a recreation of the film’s jungle-inspired atmosphere.
While the upcoming San Antonio restaurant will not replicate the sprawling Boerne flagship, Hawes says it will retain elements of the original concept. He also teased that a team is currently working on custom commissioned pieces for the new space.
Dark Side Brick Oven Pizza Co.’s planned San Antonio location is expected to open by March 2027. Further details, including the exact address and additional information about the express concept, have not yet been announced.
