Banh Mi Boys founder Peter Nguyen recently posted to Instagram that the company had taken over the former PrimoHoagies location at 8228 Oak St. and there are plans for a “sister restaurant” at the location that won’t involve sandwiches.

Nguyen recently told What Now New Orleans that the upcoming concept will be a spin-off of Banh Mi Boys’ signature fusion cuisine.

“I can confirm it’s a new fast-casual concept with Asian and Southern food influences, separate from Banh Mi Boys,” Nguyen said over email. He has also said the name of the new spot will be revealed once the sign goes up on Oak Street.

Banh Mi Boys has been a runaway hit ever since it opened in a deli space alongside a Metairie gas station. In addition to adding nearby locations, the restaurant also has a location in California
