Three Taverns Brewery has announced that it will be closing its doors in Decatur. The company shared that financial reasons led to the decision. The company assured customers that it will continue operations in its other locations.
Three Taverns Brewery to Suspend Production at Decatur Flagship
Three Taverns Brewery is a craft brewery with several locations, including a flagship in Decatur located at 121 New Street.
Three Taverns Brewery’s founder Brian Purcell developed an interest in Belgian brewing traditions after visiting Belgium. After years of homebrewing and planning, he established Three Taverns Craft Brewery in Decatur. The company’s brewing approach combines traditional Belgian influences with American craft beer styles and experimental recipes.
In a social media announcement, Purcell said the brewery would suspend production at the New Street facility because it was no longer financially feasible to operate.
The Decatur location holds a special importance for the brewery, as it was where the company made its first batches of beer. The location is also where it welcomed its first customers and began distributing its products across Georgia. Purcell said the decision to suspend production there was made so the brewery could continue operating in the years ahead.
Purcell also thanked the brewery’s current and former production employees for their contributions to the company. He also reassured customers that the company would continue operating at its other locations.
Three Taverns Brewery’s Imaginarium location in Reynoldstown and Ponce Brew Terminal on the Atlanta BeltLine will remain open. Customers can continue enjoying its beers and cocktails at these two locations.

Community Reacts to the Closure
Following the announcement, customers took to Instagram to share memories of the Decatur location.
One customer on Instagram commented, “Nooooo! This is and has always been my favorite brewery. I love how it still feels small and homey unlike the other locations.”
Another customer wrote, “I’m sorry to hear this, but I’m glad it’s not the end. So many great memories of the early days. Collabs and festivals, and troubleshooting DE filters- you name it. I’ll always look back fondly on those good ol’ days. Long live 3 Taverns!”
Three Taverns Brewery’s Decatur location will mark the end of an important chapter in the company’s history. However, the company will continue serving customers through its other locations.
