Lost & Found Coffee, a Portland coffee company that roasts weekly in Old Town, has taken a space on the mezzanine of the Nourish Building at 34 NW 1st Ave., where it hosts coffee experiences. The building is getting a neighborhood grocery that is tentatively set to open in January 2027.

The company is co-owned by Matt Markley and his friend and partner Chris. They started it after a trip to Costa Rica in January 2024, where they met farmers and decided to connect coffee buyers more directly with the people who grow their beans. The company calls its approach “Intentional Coffee.”

Lost & Found buys beans from farms in Costa Rica, Honduras and Guatemala, pays a fair price and puts an extra 25 cents per bag into an Impact Fund that supports projects in the farmers’ communities. The coffee is roasted weekly in Old Town. Orders are shipped, and local pickup is set to begin once the shop opens its doors.

The mezzanine is part of a broader community project. The Nourish Building is owned by the nonprofit Feed the Mass, which bought the historic Blagen Block, a former Airbnb regional office, in January and renamed it. The building has a community kitchen, coworking space on the second floor and an education hub on the third, while the ground floor will house 1st & Nourish Market, a 4,000-square-foot grocery.

The building’s plans were reported by The Oregonian/OregonLive.
