1927 S’Mores Company, the Portland dessert brand that closed its downtown shop without warning in 2024, is now under new ownership. Bryan Arnold and Nicole Tignor are the owners, and the company resumed operating in the Portland area in July 2025.
Stephen Zimmerman, whose name appears alongside the new owners in state business records, confirmed to What Now Portland that he is no longer an owner of the company. The brand is now run solely by Arnold and Tignor.
The change closes a chapter for a company that built a community around gourmet s’mores. It began as a food cart and pop-up at the Moda Center, and also did catering, including gluten-free options. It later opened a cabin-style café at 1126 SW Alder St. in downtown Portland, serving hot cocoa, coffee, s’mores kits and creations such as The Original 1927, with honey grahams, vanilla marshmallow and bittersweet fudge, the Pacific Crest, with salted caramel and toasted coconut, and The Elvis, with banana and peanut butter. The name pays tribute to the 1927 Girl Scout handbook Tramping and Trailing, which contains the earliest known printed recipe for s’mores.
That downtown shop closed suddenly on Sept. 15, 2024, leaving employees, customers with event deposits and vendors with questions. The Alder Street space was later taken over by Toasted S’mores Bar, a separate business opened in early 2025 by Nico Vergara, CEO of Nico’s Ice Cream, and Moonstruck Chocolate CEO Russell Sneddon. It says it has no affiliation with the 1927 S’Mores owners.
The company’s restart under Arnold and Tignor was reported by Bridgetown Bites.
